One of the most convenient and elegant way of having 2 systems communicate with each other is using Web Services. We prefer SOAP but we are open to other capabilities. This methodology is the most resource consuming and requires no third party data storages or processors.
If there is no way to use Web Services or APIs then we have experience with data base sharing, file communication, TCP/IP and others. This approach is mostly used with older systems that, sometimes, don't even have a working user interface.
